History has shown that Americans just won't go for European style cars. Take the Opels that they turned into Saturns for example - the L-series and the Catera both failed.
In order to reduce costs, car makers often stripped down European passenger cars. However with lower quality parts and a less attractive interior these models just couldn't compete in the US market.
Fiat will have to developed vehicles designed and aimed at the distinct American market. We do not want compact - we have large parking spaces! But most importantly Fiat will have to be innovative in order to keep up with the increasing competition from India, China and the European players.
